What is Artspace?

• A community-based arts organization developing affordable housing, transforming neighborhoods and building communities;

• A non-profi t using the arts and culture as a community and economic development tool;

• A neighborhood based non-profi t adapting and reusing buildings for a mix of uses;

• A community development corporation (CDC) with ownership of 92 affordable live/work spaces, including retail, office, gallery and community space for 12 other non-profi t organizations focused on social and environmental justice;

• A regional leader promoting excellence in urban design, preservation and brownfi eld redevelopment;

• An advocacy organization promoting creativity, discovery and exploration for at-risk youth;

• An arts organization promoting artists as city-builders.
